Introduction to Toastmasters Pathways

Last week I attended the Toastmasters new education system - “Pathways” training program conducted by District Ambassador of pathways .Looks like it is going to make a huge change in Toastmasters syllabus and how the club and individual manage the track records of member achievements. Before we get in to the detail of pathways let’s have look at what traditional learning system consists of. There are two tracks to progress.
  1. Communication
  2. Leadership
In both tracks there are basic level and many advanced levels.

Please read more about it here.

The new syllabus- Pathways consists of 10 unique paths.
  1. Dynamic Leadership
  2. Effective Coaching
  3. Innovative Planning
  4. Leadership Development
  5. Motivational Strategies
  6. Persuasive Influence
  7. Presentation Mastery
  8. Strategic Relationships
  9. Team Collaboration
  10. Visionary Communication
We can pick couple of paths that we are interested in or we can take the online assessment to determine which path would serve us better. Each path consists of 10 mandatory projects and 4 elective projects.

And to become a DTM(Distinguished Toastmaster) in pathways , member should have completed two paths and couple of other leadership projects.

The new pathways programs will be rolled out in Toastmasters district 82(SriLanka and Tamilnadu, India) on 25th of April 2018. Those who are currently following the tradition education system can use either path and the classical education system will expire in May 2020. It is completely up to you to decide whether you can complete all advanced levels to achieve DTM (if you want) with in 2 years or whether you want to switch to new pathways and start from the scratch. And existing members will have a free access to first path what ever they select and the following ones each will cost $20. There is something called “Basecamp” online system which will keep track of club and members progress. And VP-Education of the club will be the base camp manager. Hope that helped you get an idea about Toastmasters’ new education system called “Pathways”. Reference : https://www.toastmasters.org/
